LED tail light turn signals usually require an updated flasher unit to work properly.
Negative ground cars can use an electronic or electromechanical flasher. Positive
ground cars must use an electromechanical flasher. Here is a list of flasher units
that have proven to work correctly.
Electromechanical Flasher:
Tridon EL12 2 pin connectors
Tridon EL13 3 pin connectors
Electronic Flasher:
Bussmann 232 2 pin connectors
Bussmann 233 3 pin connectors
These part numbers can be used for cross referencing to other manufactures.
The important specification for any replacement flasher unit is the minimum number
of lights it will flash. Most flashers are specified to flash a minimum of 2 or more
lights. The ones that work with LEDs are specified to flash 1 or more lights.
There are flashers that are listed as LED flashers, but they are usually more
expensive and are not necessary for these British cars.
